This congregation existed only with the `Holden' name for two years (until 1897) when it then changed to `Bergen Evangelical Congregation'. It isn't known why they chose the Holden name first. Henry Svien, Michal Olsen and George A Hagen are three of the founder members of the church, but we're not told where in Norway they came from. The other six came from different places in Norway, Bergen amongst others. One married couple in the congregation had previously lived in Northfield Minnesota and they could have taken the name from there.
